About Bob Gilby
I am a math teacher and an engineer. I have a Bachelor of Science in Math and a Masters in Industrial Engineering.
My careers have spanned many aspects of Arizona's economy:
My roots on a small Michigan dairy farm imparted in me a deep work ethic, an appreciation for the outdoors, and a sensitivity to the challenges faced by families with limited economic means.
For four years I have advocated for education at the Legislature as part of Arizona Education Association. I understand the legislative process and appreciate the importance of trust and consensus building. I was a co-founder of the Milagro Cohousing Community. A small yet determined group of visionaries who imagined people living in a sustainable community. It took eight years to transform this vision into a reality in the face of huge doubt on the part of the conventional development community. I was the treasurer of what became an $8.5 million development project. Developing a non-traditional neighborhood required finding common values, building trust and working toward consensus. These are qualities of an effective legislator. |
